Patterson man arrested for aggravated assault
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Lemarcus Jennings, 26, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on James Street in Franklin and charged with simple battery and aggravated assault. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery in the parking lot of Cato’s in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival the deputy learned that Jennings and a female victim were arguing when the verbal altercation escalated. Jennings grabbed the victim’s arm pulling her into the vehicle he was driving, the report stated. When the victim pulled away, breaking free of his grasp, Jennings accelerated the vehicle towards her and the victim had to jump out of the way in order to avoid being struck by the vehicle, the report stated. Deputies were able to locate Jennings in Franklin at a residence on James Street. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Kandiss Pinegar, 45, of Lee Street in Marianna, Ark., was arrested at 9:51 p.m. Tuesday and charged with disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to the parking lot of the Chevron gas station in Amelia in reference to a disturbance. Upon coming into contact with Pinegar, the deputy noticed the odor of alcohol emanating from her breath, the report stated. The deputy learned from a witness that Pinegar was causing a disturbance and became irate when no one would give her directions to get to Arkansas. Pinegar was taken to the parish jail and held. Her bail is set at $250.
—Wade Nathan White, 19, of California Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista on a warrant for possession of a legend drug (Desyrel) without a prescription. While patrolling the Bayou Vista area, St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives conducted a traffic stop. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Kashif Wallace, 24, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on La. 182 near Halsey Street on a warrant for simple burglary. An officer patrolling La. 182 stopped Wallace for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone and found that Wallace had an active warrant for burglary. He was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $5,000.
Troopers investigating single car fatal crash
ST. MARTINVILLE (AP) — State police are investigating a single car crash on La. 347 north of St. Martinville which claimed the life of a 27-year-old Breaux Bridge man.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Troopers say Janual Wiltz was southbound when his car ran off the road and overturned. Wiltz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead by the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office.
