Former New Orleans Saint Chris Reis spoke to the football teams at Patterson and Central Catholic high schools Tuesday. Reis, a youth pastor at Our Savior's Church in Lafayette, talked about his playing days for the Saints, teamwork, unity, success, significance, faith and self value. Reis was invited to speak by the administration of both schools. Reis recovered the onside kick in Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts at the beginning of the second half to eventually propel the Saints to a victory. Reis said the play was called “ambush” and was designed for Roman Harper to recover the ball, but he was lucky enough to “fall on the ball” after it bounced off the chest of a Colts player. The Patterson Lumberjacks look to win their third straight contest when they host North Vermilion in District 8-3A action Friday.
Patterson and Berwick were the Tri-City area's winners Friday in high school football.
The biggest win belonged to Patterson, who upset Erath at Erath, 45-35.
If there’s anyone that Patterson High School knows about entering Friday’s District 8-3A contest at Erath Friday, it’s the teenager in the backfield who will be getting most of the carries.
The Patterson/E.D. White game always has been a key game in District 8-3A.
But this year, both teams have struggled.
