Parish council meets Wednesday
The St. Mary Parish Council will meet in regular session Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the courthouse in Franklin.
Items on the agenda include:
—Resolutions approving the call of tax renewal elections by Gravity Sub-Drainage District 1 of the Gravity Drainage District 2 and the Wax Lake East Drainage District on Saturday, Oct. 19; a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Department of Transportation and Development on the donation of reclaimed asphalt pavement; a contract with the lowest bidder on the replacement of courthouse boilers; a notice of substantial completion on exterior improvements on the Blevins building in Franklin by Naquin’s Painting and Waterproofing Inc.; and agreements with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant program for the Hazard Mitigation Plan update and the elevation of a structure under same.
—Financial assistance requests from the Save Our Children Mentoring Program in the amount of $25,000 for training, educational experience, academic field trips, materials and supplies; and American Legion Post 532 for a share toward purchase of a new van to transport veterans to VA medical appointments out of town.
—Reallocation requests by Councilman Lionel Metz from the Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10 three-tenths sales tax fund in the amounts of $5,000 to Recreation District 5 for its summer youth program and $1,000 to the Town of Baldwin for Little League.
