Orthopedic surgeon to join Teche Regional staff
Teche Regional Medical Center officials soon will welcome an orthopedic surgeon to the Morgan City hospital.
Dr. Christopher M. Stewart will be joining the staff, hospital CEO Butch Fraizer said.
Stewart specializes in adult and pediatric fracture care, sports injuries, joint reconstructions and replacements, musculoskeletal infections, foot and ankle disabilities, limb alignment correction and total hip, shoulder, elbow and knee replacements. He also treats all types of hand injuries and infections and specializes in treatment of all foot and ankle deformities and injuries, just to name a few.
He is accepting new patients in his clinic, First Orthopedics of South Louisiana. His clinic is located in the Medical Office Building at 1151 Marguerite St., 700 B. Appointments can be made by calling 985-384-0444.
Stewart graduated from the University of Florida with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science.
He continued his studies at Ross University School of Medicine where he graduated with highest honors.
During undergraduate and medical training he was in numerous honor societies, on the Dean’s List of scholars, and also a Ross University Distinguished Scholar.
He completed his postgraduate orthopedic surgery training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2010.
During residency, he was awarded the James A. Albright Resident Research Award for his biomechanical research.
He pursued further training, completing a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga this year.

Stewart his wife, Sonya, and two children will reside in Patterson.
