SHELTON JAMES ‘GOAT’ ROY

Funeral services were held Monday, January 13, 2014, at 12 p.m., at the Baldwin Baptist Mission for Shelton James “Goat” Roy, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9 a.m., at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Marqus Christian Sr., Clint Breaux, Fred Roy, Bill Cunningham, Al LeBlanc and Linc Chataignier. The Rev. Anthony Thibodeaux will officiate the services. He will be laid to rest at a later date during a private service in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin.
Shelton was a gifted artist, sharing his talents through oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, charcoals, and creating dream catchers. He was also a tattoo artist and a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. A member of the Baldwin Baptist Mission, Shelton could be counted on to help with any need that may have arisen. He enjoyed cooking and music, playing bass guitar with many local bands. Shelton passed away at his home in Baldwin on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the early age of 48. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Mandy Roy Christian and her husband, Marqus, of New Iberia; three grandchildren, Alexia, Jentci and Marqus Christian Jr., all of New Iberia; his mother, Yvonne Hairford Roy of Baldwin; three siblings, Fred Roy and his wife, Lorie, of Four Corners; Wavely Cunningham and her husband, Bill, of Shreveport; and Countice LeBlanc and her husband, Al, of Baldwin; five nieces, Lauren, Emily, Adrienne, Rebecca and Victoria; one nephew, Clint; and his faithful pet dog, Leroy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert James Roy; his maternal grandparents, John and Elphia Ducote Hairford; and his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Adele St. Martin Roy.
