Shannon “Shamoo” J. Pravata

Shannon “Shamoo” J. Pravata, 44, a native and resident of Thibodaux, went to be with the Lord at 12:55 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014.
He was a dedicated member of House of Prayer Church, and loved cooking, fishing and hunting. He never met a stranger who was not a friend.
He was the long-time manager of Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Thibodaux and the proprietor of Snow Shack Snowballs in Thibodaux. He was also a member and reservist of the Morgan City Police Department and Morgan City Volunteer Fire Department.
Shannon is survived by his wife, Danielle Granier Pravata; his father, Philip Louis Pravata; two sons, Mark Pravata Cortes and Giovanni Pravata; two daughters, Layla Pravata and Ariel Pravata; one sister, Desiree Myers; his cousins, Chad Reed and Elizabeth Haury; his former wife and mother of Ariel, Jelena Cockerham; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janell Bellard Pravata; an uncle, Donald Bellard; his paternal grandparents, Mary Mike and Philip Pravata Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Maydel Dupuis and Joseph Percy Bellard; and his godfather, Johnny Reed Jr.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at House of Prayer Church in Thibodaux. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church Saturday, June 7. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to help defray expenses. Donations may be made to any Coastal Commerce Bank in the name of Shannon Pravata Memorial Fund.
