Rosa Garcia Vila, a native of Cuba and a resident of Morgan City, passed away Oct. 10, 2013, in Morgan City at the age of 92.
Rosa was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a school teacher for many years. Rosa was an artist and loved to create beautiful oil paints and leaves behind many paints that will be cherished for many generations. She enjoyed sweets and would often have dessert before her meals. Rosa didn’t know the word “No” and would see to everyone’s needs well before her own. Rosa had a magnetic smile that she wore everywhere she went. Rosa loved animals and nature; tending to her garden was one of her passions. Rosa put family first and enjoyed spending time with them all.
Rosa is survived by three daughters, Rosie Womack, Eileen Torralbas and Lian Torralbas. Rosa is also survived by her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rosa as preceded in death by her husband, Camilo Vila; and her parents, Alfredo Garcia del Campo and Estela Garcia Garcia.
A Mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013.
