Prosser J. Vicknair, 79, a resident of Patterson, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Prosser was born on Feb. 2, 1935, in Morgan City, the son of Lovence Vicknair Sr. and Erma Pennison Vicknair.
In his younger days, Prosser enjoyed coming home after a long day’s work and enjoyed his cold beer. He also enjoyed fishing and going camping with his family. Prosser was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. He served his country proudly as a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bayou Vista. Of all the things Prosser did in his life, the thing he loved the most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Brian J. Vicknair of Baton Rouge and David J. Vicknair of Berwick; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Broussard and her husband, Glenn, of Bayou Vista; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Prosser was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Effie Doucet Vicknair; one grandson, Michael Vicknair; and one brother, L.J. Vicknair Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Fratt officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home, with visitation resuming Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Prosser will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
