Mr. Louis Emmett Stevens Jr., born in Franklin April 8, 1923, and resident of Baton Rouge, died October 1, 2013, at 4 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Inez (Nell) Stevens of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Ms. Brenda S. Franklin of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild, all of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs. Mary S. Carson of Franklin; and a host of family and friends.
Louis was a truck driver by trade. He attended St. Mary Parish Training School, enlisted in the Army where he worked as an automotive equipment operator. Louis was awarded the ATO MED Good Conduct Medal and World War II VIC Medal and received an Honorable Discharge as Corporal after serving in the Army for two years, 5 months and 25 days. After his military service, he worked for Star Furniture for over 30 years and AJ Albert Plaster Company.
Louis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt Zion Baptist Church at an early age.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with services at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1743 Convention St. in Baton Rouge. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge.
