Mr. Charpentier was an avid gardener all his life and made a large vegetable garden up until two years before his death. He generously shared his garden bounty with all his family and his neighbors and friends. He especially loved growing tomatoes and was known far and wide for his beautiful tomatoes.
He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Louisiana National Guard, serving proudly for eight years as he was the main provider for his family and could not serve overseas. He worked many years in Franklin in the automotive parts business. He was a rural letter carrier with the U. S. Postal Service and retired with more than 30 years service.
He enjoyed making his garden and listening to county music in his retirement.
Mr. Charpentier was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton. He was the first person to serve as a lector in his church and continued to serve in this capacity for over 45 years, his illness made it too difficult for him to continue. He also served as Eucharistic minister for many years.
