Noella O. Charitat
Noella O. Charitat, 89, a resident of Thibodaux, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 4:30 p.m.
She was the mother of Mrs. Kim (Michelle) Folse, Dr. Maurice (“Bud”) Charitat Jr., Mrs. William (Christine) Schwartz and Mr. Henry (“Chip”) Charitat. She is survived by two brothers, Clyde Orgeron and J.D. Orgeron; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice R. Charitat; her parents, Augustin and Nola Orgeron; and her brother, Lloyd Orgeron.
Mrs. Charitat was part of the Lafourche Parish Schools system for over 30 years. Her early years were spent teaching; midway through her career, she became a librarian due to her love of reading and books.
She was a member of the Mothers Club of E.D. White and was fondly known as “Mama-ta” among her children’s friends.
After retirement, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Thibodaux General Hospital and participated in numerous clubs and activities.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Ann Thibodaux and the residents and staff of St. Joseph Manor for the special year our mother was a resident. The family would also like to express special thanks to Drs. Chester and Ann Boudreaux and children for their love and devotion shown to our mother throughout the years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Christ the Redeemer Church in Thibodaux.
Visitation will be at Landry’s Funeral Home in Thibodaux from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 10, and from 10 a.m. until funeral time at Christ the Redeemer Church.
