Natalia Graham Dean
Natalia Graham Dean, 88, a native of Laurel, Miss., and resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at her residence.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Ratcliff and her husband, Ronald Ratcliff Sr., of Morgan City and Linda Dean of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren, Rhonda Ratcliff Gurinsky and her husband, Charlie, of San Antonio, Ronald Ratcliff Jr. and his wife, Monique, of Berwick, and Hope Tillman and Jeannine Landry, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; her great-grandchildren, Jennifer Carter, Nathan, Rachel and Sylvan Gurinsky, Rustin, Reise and Rhett Ratcliff, Anthony Juneau, Valerie, Christopher, Patrick and Joshua Parsons, and Brian and Briley Tilman; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Natalia is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dean; her parents; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Ratcliff.
She retired from the St. Mary Parish School Board after many years of teaching and serving as a guidance counselor. Mrs. Dean also taught at Central Catholic. She was the owner and therapist of Dean’s Counseling Service. Mrs. Dean was actively involved in her community. She was a life-member and past president of the Morgan City Garden Club. She was a past board member of the Community Concert Association and she also sponsored several walk-a-thons to assist children with disabilities.
Mrs. Dean was a longtime member of the Morgan City Republican Women Club as well as an elected official to the Louisiana State Central Republican Committee for at least three terms. She also received an AARP Citizen of the Month Award.
Visitation was held today, Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Pharr Chapel from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Services began at 3 p.m. at Pharr Chapel. Natalia will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
