Narcotics officers make heroin bust

Two men were arrested Saturday on drug related charges.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division reported the arrest of Barry Lee Jones, 25, of 310 S. Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, Saturday at 8:18 p.m. on charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of a drug free zone.

Also arrested was Brennan Norton Skinner Sr., 20, of 1061 Grace St., Siracusaville, on charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of a drug free zone and resisting an officer by flight

He was also charged on warrants with failure to appear on charges of domestic abuse battery, possession of marijuana, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Skinner also was charged on Morgan City warrants with probation violation and domestic simple battery.

Agents were patrolling the Siracusaville area when they observed a vehicle that failed to signal a turn.

When agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop the vehicle fled and crashed into a tree stump on Ciro Street.

Agents reportedly located heroin and firearms during the course of the investigation. The heroin has an approximate street value of $45,000.

No bonds were set.
