Morgan Ctiy land use plan to be presented
MORGAN CITY, La. -- The Morgan City City Council is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday in special meeting to gather “as much community input as we can” of the Land Use Plan & Zoning and Land Development Code Draft, said Mayor Tim Matte.
The meeting will be held in the courtroom in the city court building.
Consultants Kendig Keast Collaborative will present changes for public comment and input in the hopes that the city council can introduce an ordinance to adopt the code at the Oct. 23 meeting, he said.
“The city’s website contains a draft of the new code and regulations. On the front page, click on the City Government tab, then Planning & Zoning, which will lead you to ZLDC final, which contains the current draft,” Matte said.
A public hearing for the planning and zoning commission is expected in November, followed by a public hearing at the Nov. 27 city council meeting.
“In regards to non-residential buildings located in non-industrial areas, the new regulations would require architectural features and prohibit the use of solely metal-sided buildings. The exterior walls on three sides would have to be constructed using masonry, stucco, or wood siding,” he said.
“Landscaping would be required in commercial developments. Parking lots would have some standards added,” Matte said.
“In residential areas, accessory buildings would have to meet certain standards and certain types would be prohibited.”
