Morgan City woman arrested in Amelia bar fracas

Another disturbance at an Amelia lounge led to an arrest for battery charges after a Morgan City woman attacked a bartender, according to a report from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Katelynn Morgan, 19, of Railroad Avenue was arrested at 12:55 a.m. Thursday at a lounge on La. 182 in Amelia for simple battery and simple criminal damage to property.

A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the business which the sheriff’s department declined to name in order to protect the victim’s identity.

Hebert said upon arrival at the lounge, the deputy observed a small crowd yelling and screaming. As the deputy approached the crowd began pointing at Morgan. The deputy learned from the complainant that Morgan and a bartender were engaged in a verbal altercation when Morgan grabbed the bartender’s hair, hitting and slapping the female victim, Hebert stated.

Morgan was released after posting $1,000 bail.
