Morgan City wins on the road
HOUMA — Morgan City defeated Ellender 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-13) in district action Tuesday.
Jaiveianna Jones led Morgan City with 14 kills, four aces, nine digs and a block, while May Grogan added 10 kills and a block.
Other top MCHS contributors included Katelyn Adams, 31 assists, two kills and two digs; Marilynn Bailey, eight kills, 11 digs and an ace; Kloé Liner, five kills, 18 digs and two aces; Savannah Loupe, an ace, a kill and 13 digs; and Genesis Esteban, four kills, two digs and a block.
In junior varsity play, Morgan City won in two games, 25-20, 25-17 as the squad put up nearly 20 aces.
Tyler Hebert led the serving success with six aces as well as four kills and six digs, while Taylor Prince added four aces, five assists and three digs.
Other Lady Tigers contributors included Bailey, two aces, three kills and a dig; Brandi Ingram, an ace, three kills, an assist and two digs; LeeAnne Price, seven digs; Alexandra Thompson, three aces and a block; Layne Reynaud, an ace, four assists and two digs; and Cecily Feliciano, an ace and two kills.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 2-1 (25-21, 20-25, 15-10).
Kelsey Whittington recorded three kills and three aces in the contest, while Dwanna LeBeau added a kill and an impressive seven aces.
Other Lady Tigers contributors included Thompson, four kills; Cayla Mayon, an assist and five aces; Sara Gaudet, a kill and six assists; and Lessix Thomas, three aces.
With the win, the Lady Tigers improve to 17-11 overall and 3-2 in district play.
The Lady Tigers will return to action Thursday when they host Assumption. Freshman action will begin at 4 p.m. followed by junior varsity and varsity play.
Patterson falls in three
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Vandebilt Catholic 3-0 (8-25, 8-25, 22-25) in district play on the road Tuesday.
Carissa Fontenot led Patterson with three points, three aces, eight digs and six assists, while Caitlyn Fontenot added four digs, three kills, a block and two assists.
Other top Lumberjills contributors included Rebecca Taylor, three points, three digs and four kills; Courtnie Boudreaux, two points, a dig, an assist and three kills; and Carli McIntyre, five digs.
The Lumberjills (11-9 overall, 2-4 in district play) will continue action today when they host Berwick. Junior varsity action is set for a 4:30 p.m. start followed by varsity play.
