Morgan City will face Rummel in Final Four

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Bowling Final Four has been set, and Morgan City will face Archbishop Rummel in the semifinals on April 14.

Rummel was the No. 1 seed in the state’s eastern bi-regional, which was held Tuesday at Circle Bowl in Baton Rouge. Morgan City was the No. 3 seed in the state’s western bi-regional.

In the other semifinal matchup, No. 2 St. Michael (eastern bi-regional) and No. 1 Barbe (western bi-regional) will square off. The winners of these two matches will face off in the finals, also scheduled for April 14.

In its bi-regional action, Morgan City opened play with a 24-3 defeat of Terrebonne.

In the win, Morgan City put together its best performance of the year with a three-game series of 3,718 or an average game of 206 per bowler.

The squad also set its season high single game with a score of 1,339 or 223 average per bowler.

Against Terrebonne, Ryan Veillion recorded a 677 series with games of 223, 242 and 212.

High games were recorded by Austin Courtney (212), Lang Bui (212, 204 and 223), Brett Keton (238), Taylor Brocato (213 and 265) and Chandler Delaune (200 and 215).

In the defeat, Terrebonne bowled a 3,017 three-game series.

In their finals match of the western bi-regionals against Parkway, Morgan City came away with a 21-6 win.

Delaune led the squad with a 619 series, while individual high games were recorded by Veillion (259), Delaune (235) and Keton (203).

For the tournament, Veillion recorded a three game series of 677 and 605 to lead the MCHS squad, while Delaune recorded a 607 and 619.

Other MCHS bowlers and their series were Bui (639 and 536), Keton (609 and 584), Brocato (606 and 538) and Courtney (510 and 560).
