Morgan City police say drug buy turns into sting

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Martha Bordelon, 53, of Verdun Lane, Franklin, was arrested at 2:54 p.m. Friday on a warrant for violation of a protective order. A deputy located Bordelon at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail has been set.

—Hector Cadengo, 36, of Odile Lane, Amelia, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. Monday on three warrants from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. A deputy responded to a complaint of a vehicle crash on Lake Palourde Road at Cypress Street in Amelia. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that the owner of the vehicle was wanted on the warrants. Cadengo was booked and is being held in the parish jail. His bail is set at $7,000.

—Lindsay Paul Stanton, 26, of Hwy. 182, Jeanerette, was arrested at 12:36 p.m. Monday on a charge of simple battery. A deputy patrolling the Jeanerette area responded to a complaint of a battery. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Stanton and the victim had an argument that turned into a physical encounter. Stanton was taken to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bail is set at $500.

—George Joseph Henderson, 57, of West Syls Lane, Amelia, was arrested at 6:51 p.m. Monday on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of disturbing the peace by fighting, the report stated. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle fail to signal before turning. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the passenger was wanted on the warrant. Henderson was taken to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail has been set.

—Martaisha Brown, 27, of Levee Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. Friday on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista on a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of Schedule IV (Soma).

—Donnie Reed, 59, of Mount Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. Friday on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics detectives investigating illegal drug activity at the residence received consent to search, the report stated. During the search detectives located a crack pipe on Reed, and Brown was found to be in possession of Soma pills and crack cocaine, the report stated.

Reed was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27. Brown was taken to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail has been set.

Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco of the Morgan City Police Department reported the following arrest.

—Ray Foster, 25 of Urania, was arrested at 8:47 p.m. Monday and charged with attempted possession of marijuana

A Morgan City Police Department narcotics officer was approached by Foster at the Morgan City Grill wanting to purchase marijuana. Agents set up surveillance and arranged for the purchase. An undercover narcotics agent met with Foster at the rear of the Twin City Motel near his room to complete the sale, the report stated. Once the deal was made, Foster was arrested. He was booked and later released after posting a $742 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
