Morgan City police on disturbance call arrest man, woman

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Patrick J. Courville, 55, of La. 70 in Pierre Part, was arrested at 7:22 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failing to pay a fine for failure to yield.

Officers stopped a vehicle, operated by Courville, after it was observed committing a traffic violation, according to Crouch. Courville, the driver, was arrested after he was found to be wanted on an outstanding Morgan City court warrant. He was taken to city jail and released after posting $252 cash bail.

—Nathaniel Washington, 33, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Sunday.

—Farrel G. Leger, 56, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated and hit and run driving.

Morgan City police received a complaint about a vehicle striking a utility pole on Front Street in Morgan City.

Morgan City police were summoned to a Levee Road address regarding a disturbance. When officers arrived they encountered a female with injuries and damage to the front screen door of the residence, Crouch stated. It was alleged that Washington had committed the battery on the woman during an altercation. Washington was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked on the charge of domestic abuse battery. He remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail.

—Jerry Charles, 48, of Mount Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday for battery of a police officer, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace.

Morgan City police were summoned to a Mount Street address in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they encountered a disturbance occurring inside the residence. Crouch said officers encountered Charles, who began to verbally and physically threaten the responding officer. They encountered a female, Leticia F. Bias, an occupant of the residence who had armed herself with a handheld taser, which she stated she was going to use to protect herself from Charles, according to Crouch. The officers attempted to calm the situation but the man, Charles, continued to cause a disturbance, screaming profanities and threats towards the officer, Crouch stated.

Charles approached the officer in a threatening manner and the officer attempted to arrest him, Crouch stated. Charles struggled and resisted attempts to place him under arrest, Crouch stated. Charles was subdued and placed in the rear of the police unit, according to Crouch.

Leticia Charles who also was reported to be causing a disturbance, screaming profanities and causing neighbors to exit their residences to investigate, refused to calm down and was subsequently arrested, he stated.

—Leticia Ray Charles, 45, of Mount Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace. She was taken to the city jail. Both were released on bail.

—Michael Anslem Sr., 54, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:43 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery.

Morgan City police responded to a call at a First Street residence regarding a battery being committed. When officers arrived, they encountered Anslem, who Crouch said had struck a female occupant of the residence causing injuries. Police said that Anslem appeared to be in an intoxicated condition. He was taken to the city jail where he remains with no bail set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—Craig Nini, 31, of Toups Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:49 p.m. Friday for reckless operation. Nini was released on $150 bail.

—Juan Torres, 28, of Gus Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Friday for simple battery and on a warrant from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for DWI. Torres is still being held.

—Jason Reitmeyer, 33, of Broussard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:09 p.m. Saturday for DWI, simple criminal damage to property, open container and no driver’s license. Reitmeyer is still awaiting bail to be set by a district court judge.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Michael Vincent Brosette, 24, of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested Sunday for disturbing the peace fighting and on a warrant from another jurisdiction. Brosette is being held on $336 cash bail.

—Adria Marie Robertson, 43, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:07 a.m. today for driving under suspension, expired plate, two lights required, resisting by giving false information to officer and on a warrant for another jurisdiction. Robertson is being held on $1,978 cash bail.

—Mark A. Smith, 49, of Myrtle Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. today for simple battery. Smith was released on $366 cash bail.

—Jontell Curley, 21, of West Pershing Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace fighting. Curley was released on $336 cash bail.

—Shontranice McDaniel, 18, of Gum Street in Franklin, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace fighting. McDaniel was released on $336 cash bail.

—Rontrivia Alexis, 21, of Robertson Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace fighting. Alexis was released on $336 cash bail.
