Morgan City moves on in Dixie Youth district tournament, SMC eliminated

In 12-year-old Dixie Youth tournament district action, Morgan City remained alive, while St. Mary Central has been eliminated.
On Saturday, Morgan City defeated St. Mary Central, 3-2.
John Ross McNemar earned the win for Morgan City, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on two hits with five walks and 12 strikeouts.
Josh Lorenzo led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with a solo home run, an RBI and a run scored.
Scottie Comeaux added a 1-for-3 performance at the plate for the victors.
In the defeat, Grant Oubre pitched five innings and surrendered three runs on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Blake Hidalgo pitched two innings for SMC and fanned three, while also walking three.
Oubre led SMC at the plate with a 1-for-2 performance with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Austin Price went 1-for-3 for St. Mary.
St. Mary advanced to face Morgan City after defeating Franklin, 7-6, on Friday.
Gregory Leger pitched three innings for SMC and allowed two runs on two hits with four walks and one strikeout.
D.J. Robicheaux pitched three innings of relieve for St. Mary and allowed four runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout, while Oubre pitched an inning and struck out one.
Oubre led St. Mary Central at the plate with a 1-for-3 performance with one home run and three RBI.
Other SMC players making the stat sheet were Andrew Askew (an RBI) and Leger (a run scored), each 1-for-3, and Cody Roberie, 1-for-2 with a run scored.
For Franklin, Skyler Fitch pitched two innings and allowed three runs, four walks and five strikeouts, while Brian Sonnier pitched three innings and allowed four runs on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Drake Hewitt also pitched two innings for Franklin and walked two and fanned two.
Fitch led Franklin batters with a 1-for-3 performance with a double and an RBI.
Other Franklin offensive standouts were Brock Broussard (one run) and Payten Trahan (two runs), each 1-for-2; Josh Sanchez, 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Hewitt, 1-for-3.
On Sunday, Franklin eliminated St. Mary Central, 8-3.
Josh Frost pitched five innings and surrendered six hits, one walk and struck out six.
Fitch pitched two innings and surrendered three hits, one walk and struck out one.
Sanchez led the Franklin bats with a 4-for-4 performance with a two-run home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
Other Franklin offensive leaders included Frost, 1-for-3 with an RBI, Matt Lebourgeois, 1-for-4 with a run scored, Luke Lavon, 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Fitch, 1-for 4.
In the losing effort, Askew pitched two innings and surrendered one run on three hits with one walk. He also fanned two.
Other SMC pitchers included Austin Price, Robicheaux and Leger.
In two innings of work, Price surrendered three runs on two hits and three walks. He struck out two.
Robicheaux pitched three innings and gave up four runs on three hits and struck out one. Leger pitched one perfect inning.
Leading the SMC at the plate were Oubre, 1-for-3 with a home run and one run scored; Robicheaux, 1-for-3 with a double; Askew, 2-for-2 with one run scored; Price, 1-for-2 with an RBI; Cameron Wiley, 1-for-4 with an RBI; Collin Kulka, 1-for-3; and Reid Wiley, 1-for-1.
