Morgan City men arrested on drug charges after parking lot stop
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Aaron Edward Baggs, 20, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to a complaint of two men using narcotics in an apartment complex parking lot. Officers arrived and came into contact with a vehicle containing two occupants. During the investigation, officers found the men in possession of suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia, the report stated. Baggs was taken to the city jail and held.
—The other occupant in the vehicle, Jeremy T. Coleman, 27, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, on warrants from Morgan City police for failure to appear for domestic violence, failure to pay probation for domestic violence, and on a warrant for Patterson police for loud music and improper lighting.
Coleman was taken to the city jail and held.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Mery Jonelsi Pineda, 25, of Two Brothers Street in Amelia, was arrested at 9:53 a.m. Tuesday for operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States and no proof of insurance. A deputy responded to a vehicle crash on the U.S. 90 high rise near Siracusa. The deputy made contact with one of the drivers involved and identified her as Pineda. Pineda, a Honduran native, could not provide a valid driver’s license and also was driving without proof of insurance, according to Hebert. She was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Arthur Wellington Brazel Jr., 34, of Leo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday for criminal trespass. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a request to a complaint at the Amelia Belle Casino. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from casino security personnel that Brazel entered the premises despite being banned from the casino. Brazel was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Kimberly Harris, 41, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday for possession of schedule III Lorcet, possession of schedule III Lortab and disturbing the peace by intoxication. Harris was taken to jail and held pending first appearance.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
