Morgan City man faces aggravated sex charge
A Morgan City man has been arrested after a woman told police that her 3-year-old daughter had been inappropriately touched, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco of the Morgan City Police Department.
—Paul Bower, 33, of Karen Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:53 p.m. Monday on a warrant on an aggravated sex charge. Bower remains jailed with a $25,000 bail. The investigation is continuing.
Also arrested by the Morgan City police over the weekend are the following, according to Blanco:
—Troy Billiot, 25, of Gen. Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Monday on a warrant for attempted unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. He was already jailed and was advised of a warrant for his arrest from an incident on Sunday. He attempted to gain entry into a residence, the report stated. He had been evading the police because of an incident in the 600 block of Gen. Patton Street, the report stated. He remains jailed with a $25,000 bail.
—Deshaune Charles, 22, of Sixth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana second offense. Officers were investigating a narcotic complaint at the playground on Bowman Street. He remains jailed with bail not yet set. Three people were with Charles, and after officers completed their investigation, they were released.
—Clarence Sheets, 41, of Texas Street, Berwick, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Friday for simple criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. He is alleged to have punched the glass door of his girlfriend’s residence on Aucoin Street in Morgan City after she refused to allow him to enter the house. When he was located on Federal Avenue and Aucoin Street, officers noticed that he was intoxicated, the report stated. He was arrested, and, while being escorted into the jail, he began to fight the officers and had to be carried into the jail, the report stated. He was released on a $1,276 bail.
—Brandon Gant, 28, of Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:11 p.m. Friday and charged with domestic abuse simple battery. His girlfriend alleges that Gant pushed her to the ground during an argument. He was released on $1,500 bail.
—Charles Bilkey, 53, of Solar Apartments, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. Saturday and charged with disturbing the peace intoxicated. He was released on $1,000 bail.
—Troy Billiot, 25, of Gen. Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Sunday for simple battery, resisting an officer and simple battery on police. He is alleged to have pushed the victim against an entertainment center while they were arguing. He is alleged to have then struck one of the arresting officers on the arm. He remains jailed with a $1,876 bail.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests in the eastern part of the parish overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:
—Randy Gerome Clark, 26, of Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Monday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on warrants for illegal possession of stolen things and theft by fraud. The warrants stem from an investigation into the theft of boat propellers from the Amelia area. Clark is alleged to have pawned the propellers. He remains jailed with bail not yet set.
—Amanda Verret, 29, of Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at her residence at 5:24 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Verret was released on a summons to appear in court in January.
—Leeann Nichol Jones, 26, of Strausbourg Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. today at a residence on Field Street in Bayou Vista on a warrant from Lafayette Parish for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. She was located when a deputy was responding to a complaint at a residence. She remains jailed with bail not yet set.
The Berwick Police Department reported that it made no arrests overnight, according to Chief James Richard.
