Morgan City man arrested for jumping store customer
Morgan City police made the following arrests overnight, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco:
—Theodore Harris, 26, of Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Monday on charges of simple battery and simple robbery in connection with an incident at the Dollar General store.
Officers were called to the Dollar General in regards to a customer being jumped. The victim told officers that someone attempted to steal his wallet. The victim said he was approached from behind and struck in the face while looking at clothes on the rack.
The attacker continued to hit him and tried to grab his wallet and then left the store after a short struggle. Police obtained video surveillance and identified Harris as the suspect, the report stated. Harris arrived at the police department to talk to investigators and was subsequently arrested. He was booked and incarcerated with no bail set.
—Robert Gros, 43, of Nini Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Monday near Morgan City Junior High School for speeding 33 mph in a 15 mph zone, possession of marijuana (third offense) and on a warrant for simple assault. He remains jailed with a $5,342 bail.
—Jairo Molina, 26, of Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Monday on warrants for switched license plate, no driver’s license and careless operation. He remains jailed with bail not set.
—Thomas Barefoot, 46, of Second Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. He remains jailed with bail not set.
The Berwick Police Department reported that it made no arrests overnight, according to Chief James Richard.
