Morgan City man arrested for hit and run in Amelia
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Aurelio P. Hernandez, 29, of Lenny’s Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:54 a.m. Thursday on charges of hit and run driving and no insurance. A deputy responded to a complaint of a hit and run accident in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that while at the Superette, a vehicle struck the complainant’s vehicle and fled the scene. The complainant located the vehicle in the parking lot of Bollinger Shipyard on Degravelle Road. During the course of the investigation the deputy observed paint on Hernandez’s vehicle matching that of the complainant’s vehicle, the report stated. Hernandez was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2012.
—Mario Gros, Jr., 25, of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:38 a.m. Thursday for simple criminal damage to property over $500 at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. While conducting a check of a cell a deputy observed a burnt out light. Upon further examination it was discovered that the light fixture was damaged. During the investigation, the deputy learned that it was Gros who committed the damage, the report stated. Gros, who was already an inmate at the center, was booked on the charge. No bail has been set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
Both arrests are connected to the same incident.
—Ladana Cormier, 31, of Charlie’s Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:53 p.m. Thursday and charged with disturbing the peace third offense. Cormier was taken to jail and released on a $170 bail.
—Benita Nelson, 27, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:53 p.m. Thursday and charged with disturbing the peace by intoxication. Nelson was taken to jail and released on a $150 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
