Morgan City man arrested for failing to register as a sex offender

A 59-year-old Morgan City man was arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office Monday for failing to register as a sex offender.

James Anthony Skinner, 59, of Chetta Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:46 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. The sheriff’s office was advised by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office that Skinner had been located on the warrant. Skinner was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Kenneth Wayne Rollins, 23, of Diane Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 6 p.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Canal Road in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival the deputy learned that Rollins committed a battery upon a female victim by grabbing and pushing her, the report stated. Rollins was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:

—William Jones, 58, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:32 p.m. Monday on a fugitive hold for Ottawa County, Okla., for a drug court violation. Jones was taken to jail and held. He is awaiting extradition

—Quincey Johnson, 19, of Oriole Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Monday for illegal possession of stolen property ($549) and for resisting an officer.

—Krystal Alvarez, 24, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Monday for two counts of illegal possession of stolen property (total $1,349.00).

Morgan City police detectives were investigating several complaints of vehicle burglaries which had occurred between September 2012 and January. The burglaries were occurring in the areas of Teche Regional Medical Center, Morgan City High School, Inglewood Shopping Center, and other public shopping centers in the Morgan City area.

During the investigation, Alvarez and Johnson were developed as possible suspects. On Monday, they were observed in the area of Veterans Boulevard and La. 70. Patrol officers stopped to talk with them and they discovered that Alvarez was in possession of an Apple iPhone which had been reported in one of the burglaries, the report stated. Alvarez stated that she had just received it from Johnson prior to being stopped. Both were arrested. During the booking process, Johnson became combative with officers and was placed in a holding cell. They were taken to jail and held with no bail set at this time. Investigation is continuing, according to police.

—Joseph Dignin, 30, of Palm Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:03 p.m. Monday for remaining on premises after being forbidden. Dignin was taken to jail and held with bail set at $342.

Patterson Police arrested the following:

—Devin Carl Thornton, 22, of Shadowlawn Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Sunday for criminal damage to property. Thornton paid the fine and was released.

—Torrell Tillman, 22, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2 p.m. Thursday for two counts of drug court violations. Tillman is still being held awaiting bail to be set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—Walter Andrew Vaughn, 53, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for driving under suspension from the sheriff’s office, and on charges from Berwick police of disturbing the peace intoxicated second offense. Vaughn is still being held.

—Billy Maurice Harvey, 28, of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:36 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace. Harvey was released on bail.
