Morgan City man arrested after no-knock search finds drugs
MORGAN CITY, La. -- Johnny Anthony Francois, 34, of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested Monday for possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Detectives conducted a no-knock search warrant at Francois’ residence and during the search, detectives located crack cocaine with a street value of about $2,000 along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the report stated. Francois was taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail has been set.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reports the following:
—Jerry J. Thibadeaux, 41, of Breaux Bridge was arrested Monday on charges of criminal damage to property over $500 and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Morgan City police responded to a complaint of a disturbance at Federal Avenue and Belanger Street and found Thibadeaux in an intoxicated condition, the report stated. He also is accused of having been involved in an altercation, during which he damaged several vehicles at that location. He remains in jail with bail set at $10,000.
—Juan Torres, 23, of Morgan City, was arrested Monday when he turned himself in on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for disturbing the peace - intoxicated. He is in jail with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reports that Berwick police arrested Dea’Zhone Baker, 18, of Ninth Street in Berwick on Monday on two counts of remaining where forbidden, resisting an officer and simple criminal damage to property. Baker is accused of showing up at a residence on Blum Street at which he had been told not to return. The first remaining where forbidden charge was on a warrant from a previous incident at the same Blum Street location, Richard said. Before police arrived, he is accused of having thrown an object and broken a window. Police say that he attempted to flee on foot but was captured around Fourth Street. He remains jailed with bail set at $1,050.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reports the following arrests:
—Eddie Gray Jr., 20, of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested on Thursday for speeding, reckless driving and no proof of insurance. Gray is accused of driving 103 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 90.
—Tamoz Allen, 18, of Grand Wood Drive in Patterson, was arrested today for simple burglary of a vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile who was in his company at the time of the alleged offense. He remains jailed with no bail set.
Berwick teen injured in wreck
A Berwick teenager is in the hospital after crashing his 2012 Yamaha motorcycle on La.182 near Old Spanish Trail Monday afternoon, according to Berwick Police Chief James Richard.
Trevor Champagne, 19, of Watkins Street in Berwick, lost control and was ejected from his motorcycle for reasons that have yet to be determined by police, Richard said.
Champagne sustained serious abrasions to his arms and legs, a concussion and broken collar bone, he said.
Champagne was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, according to Richard.
Champagne was said to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
