Morgan City man accused of trying to cash fake poker machine tickets

BAYOU VISTA, La. -- A 20-year-old Morgan City man was arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office for simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer and theft after attempting to cash in fake poker machine tickets at a business in Bayou Vista.

Lance Tyler Ashmore, 20, of Chester Bowles Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Monday on Universe Road in Bayou Vista. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area was flagged down by a complainant who stated that a male subject at Extreme Daiquiris was attempting to cash in fake poker machine tickets. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a male subject fleeing from the business. After a foot pursuit through the immediate area, the deputy apprehended the subject, identified as Ashmore.

Ashmore was taken back to the business where he was identified as the subject who attempted to cash in photocopied poker machine tickets, the report stated. During the investigation, the deputy also learned that when the complainant confronted Ashmore and attempted to detain him, Ashmore dove through an unopened window, the report stated. Ashmore was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was later taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $2,500.
