Morgan City man accused of attack on ATM at night club in Amelia

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests over the weekend, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Billy Glen Haughton, 33, of Keith Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Friday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City for simple criminal damage to property. The arrest results from a complaint of an ATM being damaged at a night club in Amelia. During the investigation, it was learned that Haughton became angry when the ATM failed to dispense money, and he punched the machine, the report stated. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—A male juvenile, 12, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Saturday for trespassing. A deputy responded to a complaint of a juvenile riding a four-wheeled all-terrain-vehicle on a street in the Patterson area. The deputies observed the juvenile trespassing while riding the four-wheeler. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

—Tamara Newcomb, 19, of River Road, Berwick, was arrested at 10:59 p.m. Saturday for theft at Walmart in Bayou Vista. She was booked and jailed and later released on a $1,000 bail.

—Mario Alberto Salazar Medina, 50, of Barrow Street, Amelia, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Sunday on two counts of simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight at Sandi’s Bar & Grill in Amelia. Upon arrival the deputy learned from multiple witnesses that Salazar struck one victim in the face and attempted to bite another, the report stated. Neither injuries required medical attention at the scene. Medina was transported to the parish jail and later released on a $1,000 bail.

—Caitlyn Manfre, 18, of Raven Oak Court, Katy, Texas, was arrested at 9:29 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 90 East in Bayou Vista for reckless operation of a vehicle. The vehicle was clocked travelling at 87 mph in the 55 mph zone. Manfre was released on a summons to appear in court in January.

—Michele Laplante, 48, of Uranus Street, Bayou Vista, was arrested at her residence at 12:57 p.m. Sunday for simple battery. She is alleged to have pushed the female victim. She was transported to the parish jail and later released on a $500 bail.
