Morgan City Council meets today

MORGAN CITY — The city council will meet at 6 p.m. today at the City Court Building in Morgan City.

The agenda includes the finance committee’s recommendations to allocate $9,150 from the general fund to purchase a new air conditioner for the police department and allocate $25,000 from the general fund to an employee for the cement crew in the public works department.

Also on the agenda is the planning and zoning committee’s recommendations to approve a request by the H&B Young Foundation to add the description “business and professional offices” to the list of permitted uses for the city’s General Plaza district.

The council will discuss sanitation proposals as well.

The council will hear resolutions to declare substantial completion of Phase VI of the Roadway Repairs and Improvements project, a resolution for fair housing month and a resolution to authorize a signature regarding an amendment to a cooperative agreement for the Lake End cabins.

There will be a first reading of an ordinance to adopt millage rates for the 2013 tax year. Ordinances to declare the results of a public hearing and approve a power contract, amend an ordinance to provide for separate reserve fund accounts and issue and sell series 2013 utilities revenue refunding bonds, will go through public hearings, second readings and then be available for adoption.
