Midland High claim wins over Centerville girls, boys

CENTERVILLE _ Midland High School swept past the Centerville High School boys and girls Tuesday at the Centerville High School Gym.

In the opener, the Midland Lady Rockets toppled the Centerville Lady Bulldogs, 52-21.

In the boys contest, the Midland Rockets won over the Centerville Bulldogs 60-33.

Tori Craigen and Bethany LeJeune scored eight points apiece to power the Lady Rockets past the Centerville Lady Bulldogs.

Savanna Thibodeaux led the Centerville Lady Bulldogs in scoring with eight points.

Other top scorers for the Lady Bulldogs were: Kemprielle Williams, 3; Rylie Candella, 2; Nyketra Kennedy, 2; Alyrria Austin, 2; Roshayla Gunner, 2 and Sabrin Louis, 2.

The Midland Rockets were benefited from a 37-15 first half lead to knock off the Centerville Bulldogs, 60-33.

Alan Vondenstein led Midland in scoring with 18 points.

Jumanji Washington poured in a game-high 14 points to lead the Centerville Bulldogs, who slipped to 10-7 on the season.

Washington bagged his 14 points on four deuces, one trey and 3 of 5 free throws.

Jerome Williams added 10 points on four field goals and 2 of 2 charity shots.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Karl Young, 2; Zacchaeus Jackson, 2; Juwan Thomas, 2; Quinton Nettles, 2 and Rodney Harris, 1.

Centerville girls are at Central Catholic on Friday. Centerville boys travel to E.D. White Tournament on December 27th.
