Meeting planned in Morgan City for low-water inspection trip

MORGAN CITY, La. -- There will be a public meeting aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi at 9 a.m. Friday at the port commission dock at the Port of Morgan City. The meeting is part of the Mississippi River Commission Low-Water Inspection Trip.

The agenda for the meeting includes a summary report by the president of the commission on national and regional issues affecting the programs and projects on the Mississippi River and its tributaries. The district commander will provide an overview for the commission on current project issues in the respective district’s area.

The commission will hear presentations by local organizations and members of the public on any issues affecting the programs or projects of the commission and the Corps of Engineers.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide for an exchange of ideas, according to a Corps of Engineers’ news release.

The Mississippi River Commission also held public meetings in Memphis, Tenn., and Vicksburg, Miss., as part of the low-water inspection trip this week.
