Morgan City picked up its first volleyball win of the season Wednesday with a 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-11) victory against St. Martinville in Morgan City.

Jaiveianna Jones led the Lady Tigers with one ace, 20 kills, three blocks and a dig, while Layne Reynaud added six aces, one kill, 33 assists and six digs.

Other top contributors included Brandi Ingram, three aces, nine kills and 12 digs; Savannah Loupe, 17 digs; Alex Thompson, two aces, four kills and three digs; Kloé Liner, four aces, three kills and six digs; and Taylor Prince, two kills and nine digs.

Morgan City will return to action Tuesday when it travels to Delcambre, with action beginning at 4 p.m. Freshmen, junior varsity and varsity all will play.

CCHS falls to Curtis

Central Catholic fell to John Curtis on the road Tuesday in five game, 14-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-22, 6-15.

Meo Knight led the Lady Eagles with 26 kills, 17 digs and eight blocks, while Kaitlyn Gros recorded 46 assists and 12 digs.

Other top contributors included Gee Garrett, 13 kills; Megan Landry, 18 digs; and Olivia Crawford, nine digs.

Central Catholic will return to action today when it begins play in H.L. Bourgeois’ tournament.
