MCHS squads fall; girls await playoff seeding
MORGAN CITY — The Morgan City soccer teams both suffered tough losses Monday at home.
The Tigers fell in their final district game of the season to Vandebilt Catholic, 3-0, and were eliminated from playoff contention.
Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson described the game as “well fought.”
The girls’ squad lost to Mandeville, Division 1’s seventh-ranked squad, 6-0, in a playoff tune-up.
Girls’ playoff seedings will be released today.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Tigers trailed just 2-0 at halftime.
Patterson said the contest was a “good warm up game” before the playoffs, where Morgan City will compete in Division 2.
Monday’s boys’ contest was a makeup game from the squads’ earlier season matchup, which was rained out.
On Friday, Morgan City’s girls lost their final district contest to Vandebilt in Houma, 5-0.
Because Morgan City was held scoreless against Vandebilt Catholic, it could not clinch the district runner-up spot. Morgan City needed to score one goal in the contest to earn the district runner-up spot.
Earlier in the season, E.D. White scored a goal on Vandebilt Catholic.
The Morgan City boys also fell Friday to Vandebilt Catholic, 4-0.
