MCHS plates 14 in the sixth inning for win
MORGAN CITY — The Morgan City Lady Tigers entered the bottom of the sixth inning trailing Ellender, 4-0.
Two outs and 14 runs later, the Lady Tigers concluded the game in the bottom of the sixth with a run-rule 14-4 win in District 8-4A action.
“We finally starting adjusting to the pitching and were able to get our hits in to score the runs,” Morgan City coach Kelly Jo Aucoin said. “The team rallied together when they knew what we had to do to get the job done to win the game.”
Morgan City was led at the plate by Aliya Green, who finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, while Dwanna LeBeau finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Katelyn Adams, 3-for-4, two runs. Other top contributors included Taylor Prince and Cayla Mayon, each 2-for-4 with two runs, while Prince added a stolen base; Celest Williams, 1-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; Morgan Comeaux, 1-for-3, a double and two runs; and Brandi Ingram, 1-for-4, a double and a run.
Tyler Hebert earned the win as she surrendered four runs — three earned — on eight hits and fanned seven.
The Lady Tigers (12-11 overall, 3-2 in District 8-4A) will return to action Thursday when they travel to South Terrebonne for a 4 p.m. contest.
Patterson in five innings
Berwick run-ruled Patterson, 12-2, in five innings Tuesday in Berwick.
No individual statistics were available for Berwick.
Taylor Hall suffered the loss for Patterson.
At the plate, Tiera Butler and Carissa Fontenot each finished 2-for-2, while Arianna Ross, Caitlyn Fontenot and Rebecca Taylor each had a hit.
Berwick (13-8 overall, 6-2 in District 9-3A), who have won four straight, will return to action when it hosts North Vermilion in a District 9-3A contest at home Thursday at 4 p.m.
Patterson (15-8, 3-5) will host Kaplan Thursday at 4 p.m. in a District 9-3A contest.
