MCHS, PHS tournaments begin Thursday

The first wave of local high school baseball tournaments will begin Thursday when Morgan City and Patterson host their invitationals.

In Morgan City, the Tigers will host the A&E Basin Bengal Classic at Tiger Diamond as well as Panther Diamond in Berwick.

The Tigers will be joined in the tournament by Assumption, Thibodaux, South Terrebonne, Central Lafourche, H.L. Bourgeois, Hanson, Vandebilt Catholic, Ellender and Berwick.

At Morgan City, Assumption and Thibodaux will meet at 3 p.m. followed by South Terrebonne and Central Lafourche at 5 p.m. and HLB and MCHS in the nightcap at 7 p.m.

In Berwick, Hanson and Vandebilt Catholic will meet at 3 p.m. followed by Ellender and Berwick at 5 p.m.

Action will continue on Friday in Morgan City with Ellender meeting HLB at 3 p.m., South Terrebonne and Thibodaux squaring off at 5 p.m. and Central Lafourche and Morgan City playing in the final game at 7 p.m.

In Berwick on Friday, Assumption and Hanson will meet at 3 p.m. and Vandebilt Catholic and Berwick will play at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Thibodaux and Morgan City will meet in the first game in Morgan City at 9 a.m.

Other games played in Morgan City include South Terrebonne vs. Hanson at 11 a.m., Assumption and Central Lafourche at 1 p.m., South Terrebonne and HLB at 3 p.m., Vandebilt Catholic and Central Lafourche at 5 p.m., and Morgan City and Berwick in the final game at 7 p.m.

In Berwick on Saturday, Assumption will meet Berwick at 9 a.m., Vandebilt Catholic and HLB will follow at 11 a.m., and then Ellender will play consecutive games, against Thibodaux at 1 p.m. and again against Hanson at 3 p.m.

In Patterson, the Lumberjacks will hold its annual tournament Thursday through Saturday.

Thursday’s action will begin with a 3:15 p.m. matchup between Central Catholic and Westgate followed by a 5:30 p.m. meeting between E.D. White and South Lafourche. The first day’s action will conclude with a 7:45 p.m. meeting between Patterson and Houma Christian.

On Friday, Patterson will meet Westgate at 3:15 p.m., while CCHS will play Centerville, also at 3 p.m., at CCHS’ field in Amelia.

On Saturday, Houma Christian will start the day off with consecutive games against Centerville at 10 a.m. and South Lafourche at 12:15 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m., CCHS and South Lafourche will play, while Westgate and E.D. White will meet at 4:45 p.m. and Patterson and E.D. White will conclude the tournament with a 7 p.m. meeting.

In other action on Thursday, all four local softball squads will be in action with Morgan City hosting Hanson at 4 p.m. in its home opener, Berwick traveling to St. Amant for a 3:30 p.m. meeting, Central Catholic facing off against Central Lafourche at 5 p.m. in Matthews and Patterson hosting H.L. Bourgeois at 4 p.m. in its home opener.
