McDonald is Belleview Club Champ
The Belleview Golf Club recently held its club championship and Bobby McDonald took top honors dethroning last year’s champion Dale Rogers. In an event that was shortened to 27 holes for the championship flight due to rain, McDonald held off 2nd place finisher Ty Burdett by two strokes and 3rd place finisher Robbie Senette by six strokes. The Senior Championship was won by Al Kulhman with a score of 82. David Williamson was a close 2nd coming in with an 83 and Neil Minor finished 3rd with a score of 86. The 1st flight champion again this year was Franklin High golfer Brandon Burdett, who won on the 2nd hole of a sudden death playoff over eventual 2nd place finisher Garrett Burns. David Naquin took 3rd place after being knocked out on the first hole of sudden death. Ms. Ruthie Heard defended her women’s title by winning first place again this year. Amy Senette was the 2nd place finisher in the women’s division.
The championship was played over 18 holes on Sunday morning with all golfers playing the first 18 holes and turning in scores. The top 4 scores and any score within 5 strokes of the lowest score would play 9 more holes for the title. Bobby McDonald shot a low round with a blistering 73 one over par. He was followed by Ty Burdett with a 75, Bob Senette with a 79 and Robbie Senette with an 80. These four golfers then moved on to play nine more holes for the championship. Over the next nine holes McDonald was able to hold off his challengers by shooting a steady 39 tying with Burdett who also shot a 39. Robbie Senette shot a low round of 38 but was unable to overtake McDonald. Bob Senette finished with a 42. Total scores had Bobby McDonald as overall champion with a final score of 4 over par 112, Ty Burdett in 2nd place with a 6 over par 114 and 3rd place Robbie Senette with a 10 over par 118. Narrowly missing the championship flight by one stroke were Brandon Burdett, Garrett Burns and David Naquin all shooting first round scores of 81. They played off for honors in the 1st flight in a sudden death format where Naquin was eliminated on the first hole after making a bogey. David Naquin did supply the field with a spectacular hole in one on the 120 yard par 3 sixth hole during regulation play. Burdett and Burns moved on to the par 3 6th hole, where Burdett pared and Burns bogeyed allowing Burdett to defend his 1st flight title from last year.
