Margaret Gorman Rappmundt
Margaret Gorman Rappmundt, 83, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Margaret was born on Feb. 3, 1928, in Morgan City. She was the daughter of Thomas Francis Gorman and Susan E. Smith.
Margaret was the owner and operator of Whit-Mar Fashions for nearly 25 years. She had a love of genealogy and city and parish history; and along with Alvin Brizzard, of Las Vegas, Nev., she published books about the history of Morgan City and St. Mary Parish.
Survivors include a son, Paul T. Rappmundt and wife Teresa of Morgan City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Francis Gorman and Susan E. Smith Gorman; her husband, Paul D. Rappmundt; five brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Locascio and Rev. Steve Porter officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Margaret will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
