Manning Camp returns to Nicholls
THIBODAUX — The Manning Passing Academy will return to the campus of Nicholls State University for its seventh season, beginning Thursday and running through Sunday.
Returning with the MPA will be the 2012 Iberia Bank “Air-it-Out and Quarterback Challenge,” presented by Wheaties, scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start Saturday on Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium.
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning, along with current NFL signal callers and former Super Bowl Most Valuable Players, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, are scheduled to participate in the Air-it-Out event.
Every year, top quarterbacks and wide receivers from both the college and professional ranks square off in an exhibition at the Air-it-Out event, highlighting the skills being taught at the camp.
Gates to John L. Guidry Stadium will open at 5:30 p.m., and fans are encouraged to arrive early.
“Air-it-Out” tickets are $8 if purchased in advance online at nichollstickets.com. Tickets are $10 if purchased at the gate on the day of the event. For additional information call 985-448-4790.
Proceeds will benefit the Nicholls Department of Athletics.
Last year, 36 collegiate and professional quarterbacks participated in the Air-It-Out Session. Two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up Andrew Luck of Stanford and Kellen Moore of Boise State were some of big names on hand for 2011’s event.
In addition to the “Air-it-Out and Quarterback Challenge,” the four-day summer camp that is held for high school football players attracts more than 1,000 of the nation’s most promising quarterbacks and receivers each year.
