Man arrested on drug charges after reckless driver complaint

A Houma man was arrested Thursday by a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s narcotics detective on three drug charges after the detective responded to a complaint of a reckless driver on U.S. 90 in the Morgan City area, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Mitchel Louis Bourg, 20, of Cypress Village Drive in Houma, was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Thursday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors. Using the description the complainant provided, the detective located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, identified as Bourg, the detective observed an item of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. After receiving consent to search, the deputy located a pack of synthetic marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. Bourg was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $4,500.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Joann Mitchell, 53, of La. 662 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. Mitchell was located at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. No bail is set.

—Christopher Francis Early, 32, of Moon Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:40 a.m. today on a warrant for violation of a protective order. A deputy investigating a complaint in the Amelia area made contact with Early who was wanted on the warrant. Early was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Quentain Aristole Burleson, 37, of S. Miles Street in Abbeville, was arrested at 4:03 a.m. today for speeding 67 mph in a 55 mph and driving with a suspended driver’s license. Burleson is being held on $503 bail.

—Jarret Anthony Williams, 33, of Second Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Thursday for simple battery and simple assault. Williams is being held on $583 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
