Man arrested for domestic abuse battery at casino

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Ernest P. Foret Jr., 46, of Hyland Drive in Lockport, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a report of a battery at the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Foret and a woman were involved in a verbal altercation when Foret pushed her to the ground. Upon speaking with Foret, the deputy detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on him and his breath. The victim was taken to Thibodaux General Medical Center for treatment. Foret was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Michelle Ashley, 43, of Calumet Cut Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Friday on Ricohoc Drive for possession of Schedule III (Lortab) with intent to distribute. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division patrolling near the levee made contact with Ashley who was walking on Ricohoc Drive. Through an investigation detectives learned that Ashley was in possession of Lortab and planned to sell the pills. She was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—James Leroy Griffin, 24, of Cardinal Street in Morgan City was arrested at 11:53 a.m. Friday for disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property.

Morgan City police dispatched officers to the Housing Authority Office located in Brownell Homes regarding a disturbance.

According to witnesses, Griffin began causing a disturbance inside the housing authority office, using loud and profane language towards employees inside the office. Griffin allegedly damaged a door to the office during the disturbance. Officers located Griffin a short time later at which time he was placed under arrest. Griffin was transported to the Morgan City Jail. He was released after posting $784 bail.

—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 19, of Teche Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for a probation violation for possession of marijuana.

The Berwick police and St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies, while investigating a hit and run accident, came into contact with Klenert near the intersection of Freret Street and Federal Avenue. Morgan City police who arrived to assist in the investigation determined that the suspect, Klenert, was a wanted person by the Morgan City Police Department. Klenert was taken to the Morgan City Jail where he remains.

—Terrence Lance Johnson, 30, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:27 a.m. Sunday for driving under the influence, and careless operation of a moving vehicle.

Officers were summoned to the area of Youngs Road and Myrtle Street in Morgan City in regards to a vehicle in a ditch. Officers arrived and upon investigation, discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Johnson, exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol or unknown substance, Crouch said. Johnson was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he was given an Intoxilyzer 5000 test. The results of the test indicated that Johnson was not under the influence of alcohol, Crouch stated.
