Malcom was born on July 14, 1948, in New Iberia and graduated from New Iberia High School. Upon graduation he entered the Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War.
After the war, Malcom was stationed in Vicenza, Italy, and there he met the love of his life, Giulia. After returning to the states, they were married and settled in Bayou Vista where they were blessed with four children whom he cherished dearly.
In 1991, at 42 years old, Malcom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and lived out his remaining days with the degenerative disease. As his physical strength deteriorated, Malcom’s spiritual strength increased and he never wavered from his faith and his family.
Malcom loved to be with his children and grandchildren and always made it a point to ensure that they knew it by frequent visits and hugs. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and all things outdoors. Malcom was always a very generous and caring man who always put others first. He joyfully shared his faith with everyone he came into contact.
Never a bitter man, Malcom embraced his loved ones and showed all whom knew him the real meaning of strength.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home and continues Friday, March 22, 2013, at Hargrave Funeral Home from noon until dismissal at 1:30 p.m.
A Mass will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or St. Bernadette Catholic Church be considered.
