MADD "Top Cops"

St. Mary Parish Mothers Against Drunk Driving held its “Light of Hope” ceremony at the Teche Theater in Franklin Thursday. “Top Cop” awards were handed out to Louisiana State Police troopers with the highest DWI arrests. Since MADD’s inception in 1998, 3,563 impaired drivers have been removed from the roads by local police and state troopers, 232 from November 2010 to November 2011. Of that total, 156 were first offense; 46 were second offense; 21 were third offense; and one each were fourth and fifth offense.
