LSU baseball stadium is the country's best

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field is ranked No. 1 in a listing of the Top 10 College Baseball Stadiums published by College Baseball Daily.

The other stadiums appearing in the Top 10 are No. 2 Dudy Noble Field (Mississippi State), No. 3 Dick Howser Stadium (Florida State), No. 4 Baum Stadium (Arkansas), No. 5 Haymarket Park (Nebraska), No. 6 Carolina Stadium (South Carolina), No. 7 Doug Kingsmore Stadium (Clemson), No. 8 Swayze Field (Ole Miss), No. 9 PK Park (Oregon) and No. 10 Medlar Park (Penn State).

This past year, LSU led the nation in baseball attendance for the 18th straight season, posting an NCAA-record 473,298 fans in 43 games. The Tigers’ total attendance mark was nearly 200,000 greater than second-place Mississippi State, who recorded 281,840 fans.

Also this year, LSU was No. 1 in average attendance for the 17th time in 18 years, recording 11,006 tickets sold per game. LSU sold more than 10,000 tickets for 40 of its 43 games.

LSU established a school single-game record for actual attendance on June 8 when 11,401 fans witnessed the Tigers’ Super Regional win against Oklahoma that clinched a berth in the College World Series. The Tigers’ paid attendance figure of 12,727 for the LSU-South Carolina game on April 27 also established a school record.
