Locals place at state doubles horseshoe pitching championships
Several locals members of the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association placed at the Louisiana State Doubles Horseshoe Pitching Championships at Moose Lodge in Shreveport on June 22.
In the Class A men’s division, Dudley Michel of Bayou Vista teamed with Buddy Townsend of West Monroe for a 5-0 mark and a 47.7 ringer percentage.
The third-place team in Class A also had a local representative. Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista was joined by Ron Latiolais of Gonzales combined for a 3-2 mark and a 43.8 ringer percentage.
In Class B men’s action, Greg Comeaux of Centerville and Dale Pearce of Bayou Vista took first place with a 5-0 mark and recorded a 26.3 ringer percentage, while Kevin Doré of Patterson and Burnie Williams of Morgan City teamed for second place with a 4-1 mark and a 26.6 ringer percentage.
In Class C men’s action, Karl Vaughn of Bayou L’Ourse as well as Roland Bertrand combined for a third-place finish with a 3-2 mark and a 21.2 ringer percentage.
In Class A women’s action, Angela Percle of Morgan City and Bobbie Richard of Church Point collected a first-place finish with a 4-1 mark and a 40.6 ringer percentage.
In Class B women’s action, Tracy Verret of Bayou Vista and Judy Doré of Patterson finished second with a 3-2 mark and a 26.6 ringer percentage.
