Nearly 70 years ago Gerry DuBois lay on the ground with mortar shell explosions and machine gun fire going on all around him, and he knew at that moment that he would never see again.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony at Maison Jardin

Maison Jardin held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the Memorial Wing, which is more specialized for residents with dementia and is keypad coded to keep them safe. Bull shark caught near Morgan City

Wreck on U.S. 90 Wednesday

A two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon sent two people to the hospital with apparently minor injuries, according to Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle. The van in the picture attempted to cross U.S. 90 at Red Cypress Road shortly after 4 p.m. when the wreck occurred, he said.
