Making Cents Summer Program

M C Bank’s credit analyst Whitney Vanderson presented a weeklong summer program called Making Cents. Vanderson is a member of the M C Bank’s Future Young Leaders Committee, which assisted in creating the new Making Cents Program to be presented in the elementary schools. The Mount Era community enrichment camp was held at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium under the direction of the Rev. Norman Stovall, coordinated by Patsy O’Gwin. They were in need of an additional fun educational program for their summer camp. Vanderson presented three activities geared towards the students in kindergarten through fifth grades to engage them in math; needs vs. wants; addition and multiplication bingo activities; and the importance of saving. The campers left with a better understanding of the 50 U.S. state quarters along with a refresher course in math.
