Tribal ground breaking

Chitimacha tribal leaders broke ground Saturday on the construction of a new convenience store project near Cypress Bayou Casino. The Trading Post will have eight fuel pumps, one diesel fuel pump, 19 door coolers, a full-service kitchen, a drive-through window and 4,000 square-feet of floor area. Tribal Chairman John Paul Darden said, “Not only are we excited to expand our tribal enterprise to include a new state-of-the-art convenience store, but we are also extending benefits to our casino guests to include new benefits that may be used exclusively at the Trading Post.” The convenience store is set to begin operation this summer.
