Enrollment opens for CAA services
St. Mary Community Action Agency has announced that the LIHEAP Utility Assistance Program will begin accepting appointments Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Interested persons may call the CAA office at 337- 828-5703 or 828-5705 to set up an appointment.
Persons who have received assistance in the last 12 months are not eligible to apply. Applications will not be accepted if all information is not provided.
Funds are limited and CAA will take appointments on a first come, first served basis. Due to financial cutbacks at the state and federal level, this program will not be able to service as many customers.
To apply the following information is needed:
Last four paystubs as proof of income, or SSI, SSA, retirement, VA, food stamp printout from the last 30 days; identification for applicant and Social Security cards for everyone in the household; utility bills for last 12 months; and additional proof verifying residence
Income guidelines by number in household and gross monthly income.
1: $1,739; 2: $2,275; 3: $2,810; 4: $3,345; 5: $3,880.
The Food for Families program will be distributing commodities Jan. 24. All applicants must recertify for the 2014 program year. Bring proof of household income and identification to apply.
Distribution will be on a first come, first served basis. If you are receiving the food boxes at Sager Brown, don’t apply because this is the same program.
Send an authorized representative to pick up commodities if unable to so o personally. Any left will be picked up at the end of the day.
Distribution will be at the St. Mary CAA office building from 8 a.m. to noon.
