Christmas lighting contest winners
The City of Franklin along with the Franklin Garden Club held the annual Christmas Lighting/Decorating Contest Tuesday. Homes were judged for general outdoor decorations and businesses were judged on their display windows. The city was divided into four sections and first and second place winners were chosen for each section. First and second place winners were also chosen for businesses. Winners in the residential category for Section I were first place, Barry Sanders of 1117 Lee Charles St. and second place, Bernard and Felicia Mitchell of 208 Cedar St.; Section II winners were first place Greg and Brenda Paul of 1509 West Ibert St. and second place, Ernest Metz Jr. of 520 Morris St.; Section III winners were first place, Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Ritter of 300 Main St. and second place, Dan and Susan Hidalgo of 200 Bodin Drive.; Section IV winners were first place, Blake and Pam Johnson of 202 Eastwood Drive. and second place, Marc and Bethany Kuhlman of 413 Beth Drive. Winners in the business category were first place, Franklin Flower Shop located at 309 Main St. and second place, Fad’s Newsstand located at 613 Main St. Judges for the contest pictured above from left are Wade Boudreaux, Joy Boudreaux, Cindy Hebert, Carolyn Myers, Gisele Durocher, Connie Durocher, Beverly Migues and Freddy Migues. Below are scenes from the Franklin Christmas Parade and Lighting Ceremony Saturday: decorated golf carts in the parade; kids playing in “snow” brought in for the festivities, and a gathering of festive attendees at the event.
