CAA sets homeless forum for Tuesday
St. Mary Community Action Agency will host an informational forum in honor of National Homeless Week on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The meeting will be held at the central office located at 1407 Barrow St. The forum will include a panel of community leaders, and guest speakers who will have discussions and share reflections with former homeless clients.
This event is free to the public and everyone who is interested to attend is welcome. CAA officials say homelessness has been a growing issue in St. Mary Parish for some time. Also, many community residents experience home loss due to fires, natural disasters, family issues and unemployment.
CAA plans to continue in its efforts to help educate both the public and private sector in regards to the extent to which St. Mary Parish suffers from homelessness, as well as what steps local organizations can take to help combat, reduce and ultimately prevent homelessness. Upon providing the agency with proper documentation that proves there is a lack of housing, St. Mary CAA will verify that information, and then provide funding for those clients who are dealing with homeless issues.
St. Mary CAA accepts donations to assist in the fight against homelessness. Please contact the agency at (337) 828-5703 to receive information on criteria related to this forum and other programs offered at St. Mary Community Action Agency.
